Ask how they handle the drop after dinner
Dinner ends and the room is seated, full, and comfortable. That is the hardest moment of the night, and the answer you want describes a plan: what they play as plates clear, how they use the first dance, and how they get people up without an announcement that feels like a school assembly.
An answer that is only "I read the room" is not an answer. Everyone says that.
Ask what happens if the timeline slips
It will slip. Speeches run long, photos run over, the caterer is behind. What you want is a DJ who has a view on what gets compressed, and who talks to your planner or coordinator rather than waiting to be told.
